This will beg my second go at the whole school thing.
Graduation is fast approaching and as the days begin to dwindle the pressure to find a job increasingly grows and so does the anxiety.

This round of school has been a much greater success than my first time around. I feel that contributes a lot to being older, more mature, having a better grasp on what path and direction I want to take and finally having some life experience to lead me to where I am now.
Taking charge of my career an education was a bug decision at the age of 18. But what do we really know when we are 18? I had a great conversation with a prof of mine discussing the divide between mature students and those straight out of high school.
Although design school taught me so much about creativity, art history, and the technical skills that come with becoming a graphic designer, choosing to head back to school for Marketing and Advertising was an entirely different experience (and one I was happy to dive into).
As a mature student I find that you just know yourself better and have set out these goals that motivate you to continue to push forward and become your own version of successful. There's this motivation that wasn't so prominent back when I first started school.
With that being said, I can understand why employers are so hesitant to give us 'new graduates' a fair shot. Especially if you're dealing with someone who hardly passed, has yet to discover what they are all about as individuals, and or dare I say someone with very little life experience much less work experience. But, on the other end of the coin there are those who really try, who are eager and passionate about building on their careers and serious about learning. It may be difficult to sort out the piles of applicant strolling in but I feel that with a real fighting chance and less of the bias of the 'new graduate' stereotypes, there is a good amount of us new grads who are ready to take on the challenge of developing ourselves in our new careers.
I for one consider myself a new grad with a whole lot of drive, resilience and imagination! Someone that has ideas to share, but also can not wait to work with a dynamic team that has so much to teach and for myself to learn. It's round two of the school thing and this time I am coming out the gate ready!
